Dr. R. Douglas Geivett is Professor of Philosophy and
Department Chair in the Talbot Department of Philosophy at
Biola University, La Mirada, California. Dr. Geivett holds a
Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Southern
California. He specializes in the areas of epistemology,
philosophy of religion, and philosophical theology.
Professor Geivett is a member of the Committee on the Status
and Future of Philosophy for the American Philosophical
Association and a member of the executive committee of the
Evangelical Philosophical Society.
His published books include Contemporary Perspectives on Religious
Epistemology, co-edited with Brendan Sweetman (Oxford University
Press, 1992), Evil and the Evidence for God (Temple University
Press, 1993), and In Defense of Miracles, co-edited with
Gary R. Habermas (InterVarsity Press, 1997).
He has contributed
articles and chapters to numerous books, including Jesus
Under Fire: Modern Scholarship Reinvents the Historical Jesus
(Zondervan, 1995), The Dictionary of Historical Theology
(Eerdmans/Paternoster, 2000), God Under Fire (Zondervan,
2002), Does God Exist? (Ashgate, forthcoming), and
God Matters: Readings in the Philosophy of Religion (Longman,
2003).
